One of the best parts about photographing couples on their journey to marriage is getting to hear their stories about how their love came to be. No couple or story is ever the same and it never gets old. In fact, it’s one of the perks that makes this job so fun and so rewarding.

In the case of Claire and Zack, this couldn’t be more true. Bringing their smiles, laughter, and undeniable affection for one another, we met on the canal in dowtown Indianapolis for their engagement session. The fact that they both live in separate places – Claire’s is in New Jersey and Zack’s currently living in Oklahoma City – certainly played a part in their thrill to be together for the photo shoot and it shows.

Now, you know a love must be true when a person has literally traveled the globe only to return home and find that special someone there. Claire falls into the category of people fortunate enough to have traveled extensively in her life. Even more incredible, she spent 3 years in China! However, it was at home in the US where Claire found her life’s companion. Having met at a small college in Illinois, Claire and Zack’s relationship has only grown despite the miles between them.

The day of the session was perfect. Everything from the weather to the different settings around the city used for the photo shoot made it a walk in the park. Of course, it could have been raining and it wouldn’t have mattered; their chemistry was so strong that even an unpredictable obstacle like rain wouldn’t have stood in the way.

With their wedding planned for next year at the Indiana Landmarks Center, Claire and Zack anxiously count down the days until the distance between them finally closes in.

Imagine yourself with the person you love, standing in a green, wooded area. There’s a lake nearby, with rocky shores and a charming bridge over a small section of it. The sun is shining, you’re holding hands… even your dog is there.

Sounds incredible, right? That was reality for Mark and Jillian during their engagement photo session at Jillian’s parents’ home. The tree-lined trails and expansive meadow were perfectly romantic, creating a beautiful backdrop for their photos. We even were able to use a delightful arbor, adding great depth and a dreamy feel to the setting.

We love incorporating our clients unique personalities into engagement sessions. The previously mentioned pup joined in on the fun for some great pictures. We also set up a party scene for the celebration of two becoming one. Because the wedding will be taking place on Cinco de Mayo, a theme was in order – sombreros, pennants, and a cold Corona.

All of these elements came together for a gorgeous set of photos, perfect for memorializing the beginning of their lives together.

Their wedding will be taking place in the castle-like Scottish Rite Cathedral in Indianapolis next year. Built in 1929, it is a breathtaking building ideal for such an occasion as a wedding. Known for having the one of the largest carillons in the United States within its “Singing Tower”, as well as its intricate woodworking and stained glass, and two story ballroom, this location is fit for a king – or in this case pharmacist and a future ER doctor.

Amy and Rob’s downtown Indianapolis engagement session was nothing less than perfection!  This crazy Indiana spring weather forced us to reschedule and the beautiful golden hour shots were worth the wait.  Amy & Rob recently moved from downtown to the suburbs but you can tell that downtown will always have their hearts……they met while living in the same building and then Rob planned a surprise engagement at Prime 47!  So sweet!  We have loved getting to know Rob & Amy and cannot wait to capture their big day at The Sycamore at Mallow Run.  Enjoy!

Vow & Forver

Oh wow….where to start with this fantastic session??!!  Upon meeting with Kayli & Chris about a month ago, it was pretty clear to me that this was going to be an engagement session to remember!  They were really uncertain about their shooting locations but upon getting to know them, we learned that they live in a pretty cool, quaint, Indiana town but….Chris’ family also lives and works on an orchard!  Yes, an orchard…. truly a photographer’s dream.  We started in downtown New Castle and then moved on to Eatons Orchard.  Eaton Orchard is a magical place, complete with a gorgeous restored farmhouse, a farmer’s market and a 1950 Chevy truck and of course, the most gracious hosts, Chris’ family.  The family is so incredibly proud of their orchard, their family’s history on the land and the fact that they are able to share it with others.  It was a privilege to shoot at Eatons Orchard and capture it’s beauty with this gorgeous couple!  Enjoy! Vow & Forver Jenn and Matt were familiar with each other through a mutual love of volleyball until one day her car got stuck in a gravel parking lot and Matt, being the gentlemen that he is, wanted to help…..yup, that’s how it all started.  Matt was not about to let a lady wait alone in her car for a tow truck…….Matt waited with Jen and that wait became their first “date.”  They share a love of the sport enough to where they both enjoy coaching and it only made sense for the proposal to take place in the spot where their relationship really took its first steps.  He told her that he had to go to the facility where Team Indiana Volleyball plays to handle some team business for an upcoming tournament. As they got close, he turned left into the parking lot where a table with champagne awaited them………and well…..these images tell the story….. Vow & Forver Vow & Forver Vow & Forver Vow & Forver
